Target

In 2014, our team successfully complete a redundancy program involving 300+ employees, and on the back of this success we were asked to further support 250 redundancies over a 3-day period in May 2016.

Brief

  • Based on our previous success in 2014 with the outplacement support of 300+ employees, Target invited our team to support 250 redundancies over a 3 day period in May 2016
  • The program goal was to fully support all exiting employees, preserve EVP and a culture that supported future growth

Program

  • Support included 1:1 meetings with impacted team members on the day, personalised coaching and full outplacement support through the Geelong office
  • In addition to 1:1 coaching, all candidates were enrolled in our online portal, which provided ‘daily feeds’ of appropriate local jobs
  • In addition, we proactively supported employees with job placement
  • Our team also engaged with local employment agencies, training providers, Government agencies and community groups to ensure that alternative career options were investigated thoroughly
  • We met with hiring managers from Cotton On, Myer, Harris Scarfe, Epworth Hospital, TAC, Quicksilver, Rip Curl , Deakin University and other local employers to identify job vacancies
  • We matched skills, salary range and future job aspirations with available vacancies and forward appropriate candidates with covering letters to employers
  • Weekly email updates to all candidates, alerting them to local job opportunities, seminars and training programs, provided them with helpful hints and the reporting significantly improved optimism

Results

Our team reported back to Target on a weekly basis.

  • Reporting included weekly updates on all candidate activity
  • Reporting also included overview of proactive job search activities conducted by the Prima Careers team
  • Within a 2-month period 81% of all redundant employees were placed in an alternative role/career of their choice
  • The CEO and Executive team used these reports to help ‘reset’ the organisation for growth into the future
